A pair of clear aligners. As orthodontics have advanced over the years, there have been more and more ways to correct crooked teeth and bite problems in patients. The popularity of clear aligners has soared over the past decade, giving traditional braces a run for their money. But what is the more recent Six Month Smile treatment? How does it compare to Invisalign?

Your dentist In Polaris is wondering the same question. That’s why they’re ready to lay out the differences so you can make an informed decision.

What is Six Month Smiles?

Six Month Smiles is a teeth-straightening treatment proven to have incredible results for fixing teeth. It is a fixed brace that contains clear brackets, making it less visible than traditional braces. It also allows dentists to make finite adjustments to move teeth in the right direction, similar to standard braces.

Here’s the kicker: the brace is truly meant to make teeth perfectly straight in as little as six months. In fact, some patients got straight teeth in less time, but this varies depending on the severity of the mouth problem. It’s regarded as one of the most precise and fastest teeth-straightening methods on the market. Invisalign clear aligners take at least a year to achieve results, so you can see why they would be more appealing for someone looking for fast treatment.

Who Benefits Most from Invisalign?

While Invisalign can fix mild and moderate alignment issues, it will not be able to fix severe ones like large overbites. While it is better suited for mild and moderately gapped teeth, crowded teeth, overbites, underbites, and crossbites, the amount of correction needed is a big consideration.

Furthermore, Invisalign requires patients to wear them for a minimum of 22 hours a day, only removing to eat and brush regularly. This requires additional commitment and care that if not acknowledged, will only increase the length of time needed for correction.

However, patients looking for a more comfortable teeth-straightening treatment or a non-metal solution will prefer Invisalign’s plastic aligners. Invisalign clear aligners also work best for adults and teenagers who have completely developed their teeth. Children will not be able to use Invisalign because of this.

Who Would Benefit Most from Six Month Smiles?

While braces from Six Month Smiles are also clear, they don’t match the appearance that Invisalign provides. However, dentists are more capable of adapting to your teeth’s movements and make finetune adjustments with more ease and precision.

Patients who are more willing to commit to wearing a brace and adapt to the additional hardware will want to pursue a fixed brace, especially if they want to spend less money on dental visits. Since the length of treatment is half the average of Invisalign, it may be more appealing to those who find it difficult to make it to the dentist office.
